On the same day, Chairman Han encouraged the officials operating the information delivery system related to the novel coronavirus at Naver and Kakao.
Since the early stages of the incident, Naver and Kakao have posted information on disease symptoms and prevention guidelines on their main pages based on data from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, displayed information about screening clinics on maps, and expanded related functions to provide information for the convenience of the public.
Chairman Han highly praised the portal industry's response, stating, "The fundamental way to overcome fake news that causes social confusion and excessive public anxiety is the provision and delivery of accurate information based on facts," and urged, "Please continue to work together to ensure that reliable information is circulated."
Officials from Naver and Kakao requested transparent and unified government responses and communication until the situation stabilizes.
