[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Daelim Industrial Safety Experience School has received international standard certification. It is the first of its kind among safety education institutions operated by construction companies in Korea.
Daelim Industrial announced on the 30th that it has obtained the international standard certification for educational institution management systems, ‘ISO 21001:2018’.
ISO 21001:2018 is a certification established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is granted through a rigorous evaluation targeting organizations that provide learning resources and educational services. Daelim Industrial began preparing for the certification process in the second half of last year. After two rounds of certification audits covering the entire process from curriculum design to development and operation, it obtained the certificate in January this year.
Daelim Industrial Safety Experience School opened in January last year in Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do to strengthen safety awareness among employees and partner company workers and to prevent accidents through experiential education. The facility is a two-story building with a total floor area of 1,173.5㎡, consisting of 19 educational and experiential facilities. It allows participants to experience various accident scenarios that occur at construction sites and practice the use of various safety equipment and emergency response methods. In particular, by introducing a virtual reality (VR) system, it provides immersive experiences of various high-risk tasks and enhances crisis response capabilities.
Over the past year, more than 2,600 people have completed the Safety Experience School’s educational courses through about 100 sessions. The courses are open not only to Daelim Industrial employees but also to external stakeholders such as partner companies, students, and public officials.
A Daelim Industrial official said, "Through this international standard certification, we have secured reliability in safety education and plan to continuously develop construction safety education courses that can practically assist work."
