Lee Jae-myung to Inform Gyeonggi Residents of Wuhan Pneumonia Progress via Facebook

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, is quickly delivering updates on the novel coronavirus (Wuhan pneumonia) situation to 13.5 million residents of Gyeonggi Province through Facebook.

On the 29th, through his Facebook post titled "Information on Novel Coronavirus Infection as of 5 PM, January 29," he stated, "Following the disclosure of confirmed patients' movement routes yesterday (28th), I plan to promptly update infectious disease-related news via SNS for the time being."

He added, "From yesterday at this time until now, no new confirmed cases have been identified," and "150 Gyeonggi residents related to the four existing confirmed patients have been placed under self-quarantine."

He also said, "We conducted a thorough investigation of employees affiliated with Gyeonggi Province and public institutions who have visited China in the past two weeks," and "The 25 employees identified have been ordered to self-isolate at home starting today."

Furthermore, he explained, "We are conducting a comprehensive investigation of medical personnel as well as caregivers regarding their history of visiting China and contact with visitors from China within medical institutions," and "As previously announced, six new private epidemiologists were deployed today, which is the largest scale among all provinces nationwide."

Governor Lee emphasized, "We have mandated that bus and taxi workers in the province wear masks and gloves, and buses are disinfected at least once daily," and "The Korea Basic Income Expo, originally scheduled for early February, has been tentatively postponed, and other festivals and events involving large gatherings have also been postponed or canceled as a policy."
