[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) has been selected as an excellent institution for two consecutive years in the anti-corruption policy evaluation.
KIPO announced on the 29th that it received an "Excellent (Grade 2)" rating in last year's anti-corruption policy evaluation. This is the highest rating among the Central Government Group II (14 agencies), and KIPO also received an excellent rating in 2018.
The anti-corruption policy evaluation is conducted annually by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission to enhance integrity by assessing anti-corruption activities and achievements autonomously pursued by public institutions.
KIPO achieved the excellent rating by receiving high scores in three of the seven evaluation categories: ▲ Establishment of anti-corruption systems ▲ Operation of anti-corruption systems ▲ Performance of anti-corruption policies. In particular, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission highly praised KIPO's institutional improvements to eradicate inappropriate overseas business trip support and its exemplary leadership in completing integrity education for high-ranking public officials.
Park Won-joo, Commissioner of KIPO, said, “I am pleased that all employees’ efforts have led to receiving the excellent rating for two consecutive years in the anti-corruption policy evaluation,” and added, “KIPO will continue to prioritize fairness as its highest value this year and strive to become a government agency trusted by the public.”
