Yeosu City Launches Intensive Inspections of Large Construction Sites for Citizen Safety

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do announced that from the 28th until the end of February, it will conduct intensive inspections on safety and construction status at large construction sites during the winter season.

The targets are large construction sites, totaling 21 locations, including 8 apartment complexes such as Jukrim Hyundai Regional Housing Association and 13 facilities including The Island lodging facilities.

The city formed its own inspection team consisting of the Permit Civil Complaints, Building Permit Team, and Apartment Complex Team.

The main inspection items include ground subsidence in vulnerable cut slopes during winter, appropriateness of concrete pouring during severe cold, safety management around construction sites, and reinforcement and protective measures for structures.

Minor issues found during inspections will be corrected on site immediately, while serious violations will be subject to administrative actions such as assigning construction penalty points.

Prior to this, on the 15th, Yeosu held a meeting in the city hall conference room with site managers of the 21 large construction sites, explaining the key inspection points during winter and listening to the opinions of construction companies.

In particular, the city actively requested participation of local subcontractors to revitalize the local economy, prioritized use of products produced in Yeosu, and encouraged the relocation of on-site workers to the city.

A city official stated, “We will continue to conduct ongoing inspections on construction and safety management at construction sites within the city to achieve zero construction site accidents and create a safe Yeosu City free from construction disasters.”
