[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Lee Do-hoon, Head of the Korean Peninsula Peace Negotiation Headquarters, will visit the European Union (EU) headquarters in Brussels, Belgium on the 29th and 30th to attend the EU Political and Security Committee (PSC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 28th. Lee is also scheduled to meet with Helga Schmidt, Secretary-General of the EU External Action Service (EEAS).
During this visit, Lee will exchange views with EU member states on the recent situation on the Korean Peninsula and discuss cooperation measures between Korea and the EU for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of lasting peace.
Following this, Lee will visit Berlin, Germany on the 30th and the 1st of next month to meet with the German Deputy Foreign Minister, the Director-General for Asian and Pacific Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the foreign and security affairs deputy floor leaders of the ruling German Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) coalition.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "Through this visit, Lee will reaffirm Germany's support for the Korean government's efforts toward the complete denuclearization and lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and discuss ways to strengthen Korea-Germany cooperation."
