Promoting 'Rational District Administration and Resident Convenience' through Ordinance Revision
‘Autonomous Ordinance Collection’ published by the Special Committee on Ordinance Maintenance of Jung-gu Council
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Jung-gu Council of Seoul (Chairman Jo Young-hoon) formed a Special Committee for Ordinance Revision in September last year and has been promoting the reorganization of currently enforced ordinances.
The target ordinances include those that conflict with current laws, are unreasonable, may cause inconvenience to residents' lives, or require updates to reflect changes in administrative conditions.
The Ordinance Special Committee has also collected residents' opinions by the end of last year to prioritize reflecting public opinion in legislative activities.
The Ordinance Special Committee, composed of Chairman Kim Haeng-seon, Vice Chairman Gil Ki-young, and members Lee Hwa-mook, Lee Hye-young, Yoon Pan-oh, Go Mun-sik, Park Young-han, and Lee Seung-yong, published a collection of local regulations in January this year, covering about 290 ordinances subject to revision, including newly enacted ones.
The committee distributed the local regulation collections according to ordinance assignments by standing committees and individual members, and is currently reviewing the ordinances subject to revision while gathering opinions from legislative advisory members, professional staff, and relevant district office departments.
Furthermore, the 3rd Special Committee for Ordinance Revision, to be held next month, will collect opinions on the ordinances assigned to each member and prepare revision plans.
