Dongshin University Selected for 'Southwest Region Hub Project Group'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dongshin University (President Choi Il) has been selected as the ‘Southwest Region Hub Project Group,’ a support institution of the National Human Resources Development Consortium covering Gwangju Metropolitan City, Jeonnam·Buk, and Jeju areas.

According to Dongshin University on the 28th, the Southwest Region Hub Project Group of the National Human Resources Development Consortium will receive up to 1 billion KRW annually in project operating expenses starting this year and will operate and support a joint training center for workers of small and medium-sized enterprises in Gwangju, Jeonnam·Buk, and Jeju regions for at least six years.

The operation period may be extended depending on the project’s performance.

The National Human Resources Development Consortium is a representative education and training project of the Ministry of Employment and Labor that expands vocational training opportunities for workers of small and medium-sized enterprises and establishes a field-demand customized vocational training system to cultivate high-quality human resources.

The Southwest Region Hub Project Group supports small and medium-sized enterprises that cannot have their own training centers to jointly use the training centers of large corporations for employee education.

It also provides small and medium-sized enterprises with a human resource management system such as ‘continuous and systematic human resource development’ by utilizing the systematic education and training operation systems and excellent training infrastructure of large corporations.

It plans to support building an education and training system through customized consulting, designing educational courses, and demand-oriented education tailored to the educational needs of the project sites.

Through this consortium with large corporations, the project group intends to cultivate excellent human resources needed in related industries together with small and medium-sized enterprises and create a win-win human resource development ecosystem.

Cha In-su, head of the Consortium Southwest Region Hub Project Group, said, “We will faithfully fulfill the role of a regional base university leading regional development through the co-growth of large and small and medium-sized enterprises,” adding, “We will foster each joint training center as a re-education hub for the unemployed or incumbent workers by conducting high-quality training for employees through specialization.”
