[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Representative Yoon So-ha (Floor Leader of the Justice Party) expressed strong welcome on the 28th for Mokpo being finally selected as a regional tourism hub city by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Representative Yoon said, "Mokpo is a city representing Korea's taste, style, and living history. Recently, the number of tourists has rapidly increased due to Mokpo's modern cultural heritage and the maritime cable car," and added, "It is already estimated that 6.5 million tourists visited last year alone, so this selection as a regional tourism hub city will be an opportunity for Mokpo's cultural tourism industry to take a new leap."

Furthermore, he stated, "I have discussed with the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism who conducted this contest about the reasons why Mokpo should be selected as a regional tourism hub city, and have strongly demanded the selection," and congratulated all Mokpo citizens and residents of the southwestern Jeonnam region on this selection as a regional tourism hub city.
