[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The Association of Judicial Exam Preparers (Sajunmo) has submitted a request for investigation to the prosecution regarding the 'MeToo' allegations surrounding Won Jong-geon, the Democratic Party's second recruited talent.
On the 28th, Sajunmo stated, "We have submitted a request for investigation to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to punish Won for charges including rape, bodily injury, and violations of the Sexual Violence Punishment Act," and added, "Won was a person who intended to run for the National Assembly, and the public wants to know the truth about the incident."
The day before, A, who identified herself as Won's ex-girlfriend, posted a revealing post on an internet cafe claiming that she was a victim of dating violence by Won, sparking the 'MeToo' controversy. In the post, A alleged that Won sexually assaulted her and continuously harassed her, also uploading photos showing bruises on her lower body and screenshots of KakaoTalk conversations.
As the controversy grew, Won held a press conference that day, announcing the return of his recruited talent status and his withdrawal from the general election. Won also denied the allegations, stating, "I will reveal the truth and restore my honor."
