Suspected Wuhan Pneumonia Case in Wonju... 15-Month-Old Infant Returned from China On the afternoon of the 27th, when the fourth confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection, known as 'Wuhan pneumonia,' occurred in South Korea, a child at Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 is heading towards the departure inspection counter, showing hands wearing plastic gloves.

A suspected case of the novel coronavirus infection, known as 'Wuhan pneumonia,' has been reported in Wonju, Gangwon Province, and the patient is currently isolated in a hospital.

According to Gangwon National University Hospital and health authorities on the 27th, a 15-month-old infant who traveled to Guangzhou, China, with their parents from the 18th to the 26th, began showing suspected symptoms of the novel coronavirus, such as coughing, from the morning of that day.

Immediately after showing symptoms, the infant visited the emergency room at Wonju Severance Christian Hospital and was transferred in the afternoon to Gangwon National University Hospital, a nationally designated negative pressure isolation ward, where tests are being conducted.

The results of the initial virus test are expected to be available in about eight hours.

A hospital official stated, "We are conducting tests following isolation procedures according to the manual."

The hospital has restricted access to the emergency room and carried out disinfection work starting from the afternoon of the day the patient visited, in preparation for any possible situation.

Meanwhile, four individuals in the province are under active surveillance for 'Wuhan pneumonia': two women in their 20s, one man in his 20s, and one man in his 50s.

Their local health centers are monitoring their temperatures twice daily, and so far, no abnormal symptoms have been reported.
