'Oktapbang' Kim Kang-hoon: "I Thought I Would Fail the 'When the Camellia Blooms' Pil-gu Audition"

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] Child actor Kim Kanghoon, who appeared on KBS 2TV variety show 'Problematic Men in the Rooftop Room,' revealed an episode about being cast in the drama 'When the Camellia Blooms.'

On the 27th broadcast of KBS 2TV's 'Problematic Men in the Rooftop Room,' Kim Kanghoon and SF9's Rowoon appeared as guests.

During the broadcast, Kim Kanghoon said, "I thought I would fail the audition for the role of Pilgu in the drama 'When the Camellia Blooms,'" sparking curiosity among those around him.

He continued, "I was so nervous during the first audition that I performed worse than I had practiced," and added, "But the director called me to inform me I passed within 30 minutes," sharing the casting story that drew attention.

Additionally, Kim Kanghoon shared a behind-the-scenes story about winning the 'Youth Acting Award' at the 2019 KBS Drama Awards through 'When the Camellia Blooms.'

He revealed that after the awards ceremony, Gong Hyojin contacted him saying, "If it weren't for Kanghoon, I wouldn't have won the grand prize." He also said, "A banner was even hung at my grandmother's store in Mokpo," and added, "She cried a lot watching me receive the award," moving those around him.

Meanwhile, Kim Kanghoon debuted in 2013 through MBC Every1's variety program 'From Today, Mom and Dad.' He became known to the public by playing the role of Pilgu in 'When the Camellia Blooms.'

Kim Kanghoon received the Male Youth Acting Award at last year's KBS Drama Awards.
