[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] High-moisture cosmetics for dry skin caused by cold winter winds and indoor heating are attracting attention.

According to online shopping site Gmarket on the 26th, sales of moisturizing-related products increased more than threefold compared to the same period last year, from October 6 to November 5 last year. Among them, cream sales increased by about 194%, and essence sales increased by about 107% or more.

This winter, various moisturizing products that will take care of consumers' skin are being released one after another. From functional creams that maximize nutrition supply effects to all-in-one moisturizing ampoules, consumers have a wider range of choices.

J-Coup recently introduced the premium high-moisture cream “Caresella Prestige Cream,” perfect for winter. Based on Centella leaf water, Caresella Prestige Cream is effective in soothing skin sensitized by cold weather, and it applies the liposome method for excellent absorption and texture. In addition, the triple prescription of natural moisturizing factor hyaluronic acid maximizes moisture and hydration functions.

The new product contains “Fulvic Acid,” a natural organic electrolyte containing more than 70 types of minerals, which is excellent for supplying nutrients and improving absorption within the skin. In addition, it contains three complex fermented extracts that help soothe the skin and 17 types of amino acids effective for skin elasticity, making it expected to be very useful for winter skin care.

J-Coup’s cosmetic brand “Caresella” sells products including skincare developed through its own research and development, as well as body and hair care products. It plans to continue active research activities to introduce various products suitable for different skin types of consumers.

“Cetaphil,” which ranks first in the domestic moisturizing derma field with moisturizing creams and lotions, has newly launched a low-irritant moisturizing cleanser.

“Cetaphil Gentle Foaming Cleanser” helps maintain the skin’s moisture and protective barrier, minimizing moisture loss caused by cleansing. It also features rich and soft foam that keeps the skin moist while thoroughly washing away ultrafine dust and makeup residues.

Cetaphil plans to release more domestic-exclusive products next year following the first introduction of “Cetaphil Gentle Body Wash Refreshing” to the Korean market this year.

Natural functional cosmetics brand isoi introduced the “BR Moisturizing ZIP Cream Ampoule (compressed cream ampoule)” for severely dry skin in winter.

The new product uses Bulgarian rose butter to significantly enhance skin moisture retention and is an all-in-one compressed moisturizing ampoule that compresses skin, lotion, and essence. It also includes natural ingredients such as jojoba seed oil to maintain hydration.

Additionally, it passed human application tests including a 72-hour moisturizing test and clinical trials for improving deep hydration, increasing trust in product efficacy and expected to gain great popularity among consumers.

An industry official said, “Due to the increased demand for moisturizing cosmetics in winter, beauty brands are competing to introduce more enhanced moisturizing products,” adding, “With the advancing domestic cosmetic manufacturing technology, we expect to see more effective and diverse products.”
