How to Use 'Onnuri Gift Certificates' During Lunar New Year Holidays... Customer Satisfaction Event

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] Various events and campaigns are ongoing during the Lunar New Year holiday. Companies, traditional markets, and online platforms are all working to enhance customer satisfaction.

According to related industries on the 26th, Daekyo Group is holding a special New Year's event through 'Midas Hotel & Resort' until the 1st of next month. Customers whose names include the characters 'Gyeong' or 'Ja' can receive up to a 15% discount when booking rooms or packages, and customers born in the Year of the Rat will be given a special handmade macaron set.

Additionally, customers using the hotel until the 27th, during the Lunar New Year holiday, can participate in the '2020 Folk Games Festival,' where they can enjoy Korea's traditional folk games. A Daekyo Group representative said, "At the grand banquet hall where the folk games are held, the whole family can enjoy Yutnori, Tuho throwing, Jegichagi, and more for free."

Various events are also being held at traditional markets. To celebrate the Lunar New Year, the purchase limit for paper Onnuri gift certificates with a 5% discount will be raised from 300,000 KRW to 700,000 KRW per month until the 28th. Paper Onnuri gift certificates can be purchased at 15 commercial banks, including Suhyup Bank, which started selling gift certificates this year. To receive the discount, buyers must bring an ID and pay in cash.

Moreover, benefits for mobile Onnuri gift certificates, which can be purchased, paid for, and gifted via smartphone applications without visiting a bank, will also be expanded. The mobile Onnuri gift certificates will maintain a 10% discount until the end of this year, and the purchase limit for discounted purchases will be increased from 500,000 KRW to 700,000 KRW. The discount purchase limit for mobile gift certificates is operated separately from that of paper gift certificates.

Mobile Onnuri gift certificates can be purchased through nine bank and simple payment apps, including Nonghyup (All One Bank) and CheckPay. Discounts are automatically applied up to the monthly purchase limit. Additionally, until the 31st, six traditional market online shopping malls will hold special discount events on local specialties and more. The products for the online special discount event can be checked at the integrated traditional market shopping mall, Onnuri Market, among others.

An official from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups said, "We hope that consumers will visit traditional markets and shopping districts more frequently through the special sale of Onnuri gift certificates during the Lunar New Year holiday."

The secondhand trading platform 'Junggonara' is conducting a 'Safe Trading for Lunar New Year' campaign jointly with the Cyber Safety Bureau of the National Police Agency until the 31st.

During the campaign period, a special task force for the Lunar New Year will be formed, led by 'Junggonara Security Officers,' who are experts in safe trading. They will disseminate the 'Safe Trading Guidelines' provided by the Cyber Safety Bureau to platform users, conducting both enforcement and prevention activities.

For peer-to-peer secondhand transactions, it is safe to use the 'Police Cyber Cop,' which allows users to check the seller's fraud report history by account or phone number. A Junggonara representative said, "It is preferable to prioritize direct transactions where you can see the product in person, and if unavoidable to use delivery, it is recommended to use the safe payment escrow service."
