'Taxi Collision' BTS Jungkook Receives Deferred Prosecution Disposition

'Taxi Collision' BTS Jungkook Receives Deferred Prosecution Disposition In October last year, Jungkook (23), a member of the idol group BTS, who caused a traffic accident while driving, received a suspended indictment from the prosecution.

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Shin-won] Jungkook (23), a member of the idol group BTS, who caused a traffic accident while driving last October, has received a suspended indictment from the prosecution.

According to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office on the 23rd, Jungkook, who was booked on charges including violations of the Road Traffic Act and the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling, was given a suspended indictment.

At the end of October last year, Jungkook caused an accident by colliding with a taxi while driving his vehicle in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. It was reported that Jungkook was not under the influence of alcohol at the time.

A suspended indictment is a disposition where, although the accused admits to the facts, considering factors such as motive, means, results, and circumstances, the case is not brought to trial. The prosecution, which received the case from the police last month with a recommendation for indictment, referred the case to the Prosecutors' Citizen Committee.

The Prosecutors' Citizen Committee is a system introduced to enhance the fairness and transparency of investigations by referring to public opinion when the prosecution decides whether to file charges or request warrants.

A prosecution official explained, "We comprehensively considered the fact that Jungkook immediately reached a settlement after the accident and the opinions from the Prosecutors' Citizen Committee."
