Samsung Display Establishes QD Commercialization Team... Appoints Vice Chairman Choi Ju-seon

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Samsung Display has established a new organization in charge of the Quantum Dot (QD) display business.

According to the display industry on the 23rd, the company carried out an organizational restructuring and personnel appointments the day before, officially reorganizing the existing 'C Project' responsible for QD development into the official organization 'QD Commercialization Team.' The head of the QD Commercialization Team will concurrently serve as the head of the Large Display Division at Samsung Electronics Semiconductor America, Vice President Juseon Choi, who was appointed in this restructuring.

A company official explained, "To fully launch the QD display business, we appointed an expert with extensive experience in both marketing and development as the new division head."

Through this organizational restructuring, Samsung Display is expected to begin full-scale preparations for mass production of QD displays. Earlier, Samsung Display announced that it would invest a total of 13.1 trillion KRW in the next-generation display business by 2025. Subsequently, it began full-scale equipment investment at the end of last year, and is expected to start building production lines around August this year.
