[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Former Bareunmirae Party lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo criticized the interim personnel reshuffle of the prosecution carried out by the Ministry of Justice on the 23rd, calling it a "dismissal order for investigations into the living power" and "an outrageous act that weakens the Prosecutor General's authority and expels the command line to stop investigations related to the Blue House."
In a statement released that day, former lawmaker Ahn said, "The country is collapsing day by day," and added, "The entire prosecution leadership directing investigations into allegations such as the Blue House's interference in the Ulsan mayoral election, former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk's family corruption allegations, and the cover-up of Yoo Jae-soo's inspection has been replaced without exception."
He pointed out, "Blocking the prosecution's legitimate investigations is a destruction of the rule of law, democracy, and the spirit of the constitution," and said, "Using personnel authority, which is a public trust delegated by the people, as a tool for individuals, factions, and power is a clear privatization of power."
He continued, "All power in the Republic of Korea comes from the people, and the constitution's spirit is that even the president must exercise power with maximum restraint," adding, "Power exercised in a way that the people cannot accept goes beyond the power entrusted by the people."
Former lawmaker Ahn stated, "Now our people clearly know who is ruining the country, who is destroying democracy, and what truths the current administration is trying to cover up," and declared, "I will protect and support Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl together with the people so that he can investigate the living power to the end."
He said, "Even if the prosecution's neck is twisted, the truth will be revealed," and added, "Turning the prosecution into a servant of power is a fake democratic regime."
