Yeonggwang-gun and Local Agricultural and Livestock Cooperatives Promote Local Government Cooperation Projects

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 23rd that it will promote a cooperative project between the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, local agricultural and livestock cooperatives, and local governments to efficiently respond to the many business demands of local farmers and resolve difficulties in the agricultural field.

This aims to establish a win-win cooperative relationship between the administration and agricultural and livestock cooperatives to secure future agricultural growth engines for the county by discovering new income sources for farms and field-customized agricultural policy measures.

The local government and agricultural and livestock cooperative cooperation project, which will be actively promoted from this year, involves each institution investing a certain budget to implement projects desired by farmers, including ▲high-quality hay support (Livestock Cooperative) ▲field soil conditioner support (Baeksu Nonghyup, Gulbigol Nonghyup, Seoyeonggwang Nonghyup) ▲GAP-certified horticultural product commercialization support (Yeonggwang Nonghyup) ▲new black glutinous rice seedling consignment support (Seoyeonggwang Nonghyup) ▲green onion riding transplanter support (Baeksu Nonghyup, Seoyeonggwang Nonghyup), totaling five projects with a total budget of 1.69 billion KRW.

The funding burden rate is 32% by the county, 36% by the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation and local agricultural and livestock cooperatives, and 32% self-funded, respectively.

The county can save budget, and the agricultural and livestock cooperatives find it very effective in discovering new income sources.

Governor Kim Junsung said, “We will continuously discover new business areas demanded by farmers while maintaining an organic cooperative relationship with the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation and local agricultural and livestock cooperatives,” and added, “We will continue to expand this cooperative project, which is expected to have budget-saving effects, to create a prosperous and sustainable agriculture and rural community together with the agricultural and livestock cooperatives.”
