[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The government has decided to increase the supply of essential items such as beef, apples, and pears up to 4.3 times during this Lunar New Year period. Additionally, over 2,700 direct transaction markets will be opened nationwide, with discounts of up to 50% on selected items.

According to the government on the 24th, sales of traditional market and local love gift certificates worth 1 trillion won will be promoted during the holiday period.

They also plan to conduct price checks on essential items and intensive inspections on origin labeling and food hygiene. Direct transaction markets involving producers will be held across the country.

Furthermore, measures to revitalize the local economy have been introduced. Until the 31st, six traditional market online shopping malls will offer gift sets and local specialties at discounts of up to 50%.

Traditional market gift certificates worth 530 billion won will be issued in January and February, an increase of 80 billion won compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Korea Price Information, a price survey specialist organization, reported that the cost of a Lunar New Year table setting (for a family of four) this year is approximately 219,700 won at traditional markets and about 304,110 won at large supermarkets.
