From February 1, the 'Saturday Civil Service Office' operates every first Saturday of the month from 9 AM to 1 PM... Passport applications, various certificates, and international driving permits are also available
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will newly operate a ‘Saturday Civil Service Office’ for the convenience of dual-income couples, office workers, students, and others who find it difficult to visit the civil service office during working hours.
The ‘Saturday Civil Service Office’ will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first Saturday of every month starting February 1.
In addition to passport application and issuance, it is possible to issue various certificates such as resident registration, family relation certificates, seal certificates, personal signature verification certificates, and tax certificates. To reduce the inconvenience of visiting the police station or the driver’s license examination office separately, the office also handles the application and issuance of international driving permits for passport applicants, allowing residents to use the service more conveniently.
An official from the district office said, “If you visit the ‘Happy Civil Service Office’ at Seongdong-gu Office on the first Saturday of every month, all civil service documents can be issued. In addition, various convenience facilities such as books, fax/copier, mobile phone chargers, and rest areas are provided inside the civil service office, making it a small resting place for residents as well.”
Besides operating the Saturday Civil Service Office, the district is implementing various resident-centered policies to provide convenient civil service administration, including the introduction of an ‘Integrated Queue System’ that provides real-time civil service waiting status on the district website, installation of court-exclusive unmanned civil service issuance machines, registered mail receipt for passports, priority reception counters for the elderly, and operation of civil service guides.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “Seongdong-gu was recognized as the best in the nation for civil service by winning the ‘Presidential Award’ for three consecutive years in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation.’ We will continue to strive to approach residents from their perspective first.”
