[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Actor Joo Min-jin's directorial debut, the musical 'Priest,' will open on March 24 at the Seokyeong University Performing Arts Center Scon 2 Hall.
'Priest' is an exorcism musical that tells the story of people fighting against predetermined fate and God.
It is the first work directed by Joo Min-jin, a 13-year veteran actor. Joo Min-jin was responsible not only for directing but also for the script. Under the pen name 'Sin Cheon-ong,' Joo Min-jin has written numerous works and completed the musical 'Priest' after four years of preparation.
Director Joo Min-jin, composer and music director Jung Hye-jin, and the company Changjakhan Gonggan Co., Ltd. participated in the production.
'Priest' prominently features the exorcism ritual, which has rarely been addressed on the domestic musical stage, and plans to present a unique stage through intense mise-en-sc?ne and distinctive direction. The story of Marco, who was stripped of his qualification as an exorcist priest due to a series of incidents; Johan, who refuses his shamanistic fate and tries to rely on scientific power; and Yoo Jeong, who lost himself due to supernatural forces, unfolds relentlessly by crossing past and present.
Enoch, Kim Dae-hyun, and Ki Se-jung are cast as Marco, the defrocked priest who loses a loved one in an accident every six years and lives a devastated life. Kang Chan and Baek Ki-beom play Johan, who silently walks his own path while rejecting his given fate. Lee Ji-sook and Kim Guk-hee share the role of Seo Yoo-jeong, who loses herself drawn by an unknown voice. Additionally, Choi Ho-seung and Park Geon appear as bartenders, the mediators of the exorcism ritual.
'Priest' will be performed for about two months until May 31.
