[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 22nd that it held the ‘Samsung Dream Class Winter Camp Completion Ceremony’ for 300 middle school students from Jeonnam Province at Hanyang University in Seoul.
This camp is a program where middle school students from the Jeonnam region spend their vacation living with college student mentors to design their future dreams and prepare for career choices.
Now in its 9th year, the Samsung Dream Class Camp is an educational donation project operated by the Samsung Social Volunteer Group. It was first piloted in 2012 at Seoul National University for 300 middle school students from Jeonnam and has since been held every winter and summer vacation at prestigious universities nationwide.
During this period, participating students received personalized learning support and had opportunities to develop core competencies for the future society through various cultural experiences and leadership enhancement education.
Jung Deok-won, Director of Educational Welfare, said, “Through the operation of the Samsung Dream Class Camp, we are providing students in rural fishing and farming areas with the opportunity to develop study habits for self-directed learning, various cultural experiences, and leadership growth.” He added, “We expect this to be a valuable opportunity for students to nurture their dreams and grow into future talents.”
