Plan for Participation of Approximately 640 People from 11 Project Groups, Discussion on Revitalizing Self-Support Project Groups
On the 21st, a meeting of representatives from the Self-Support Agency Council was held at Seongbuk-gu Office, where public and private organizations gathered to set the direction for the smooth promotion of this year's self-support projects.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) has established a more active public-private cooperation system to maximize the outcomes of its self-sufficiency projects.
On the 21st, the 'Seongbuk-gu Self-Sufficiency Institution Council,' composed of public and private sector experts, gathered to conduct in-depth discussions on the operational direction of self-sufficiency projects, including the review and performance evaluation of the 2019 self-sufficiency projects and the establishment of the 2020 annual self-sufficiency support plan.
Through this meeting, the district decided to invest approximately 4.6 billion KRW this year to operate 11 self-sufficiency project groups, providing about 640 jobs that enable low-income individuals to become self-reliant.
In particular, rather than simple support, the focus will be on discovering new projects and strengthening the substance of self-sufficiency projects, while attempting to revitalize self-sufficiency support to ensure the successful start-up of self-sufficiency project groups and self-sufficiency enterprises aimed at creating jobs for low-income groups.
The district laid the foundation for expanding self-sufficiency jobs and self-sufficiency infrastructure through the operation of self-sufficiency work project groups and pilot projects in 2019.
Notably, based on these achievements, the Seongbuk Regional Self-Sufficiency Center won the Encouragement Award for Excellent Case Management in the 2019 Self-Sufficiency Case Management hosted by the Korea Self-Sufficiency Welfare Development Institute, and was selected as an excellent institution for youth independence challenges, supporting employment, start-ups, and acquiring certifications for economic independence.
A district official stated, “We will continue to make efforts to prepare various support measures to provide work opportunities for low-income individuals with work ability to become self-reliant by discovering new self-sufficiency work projects and matching customized employment service programs.”
