The year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sun Myung Moon, bringing renewed attention to his life.
Sun Myung Moon stated that he did not found the Unification Church to remain merely a single religious denomination. He viewed religion as a tool with a role and mission to achieve a peaceful world. Likewise, the Unification Church recognizes the limitations of religion and currently operates under the name Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, upholding the value of "One Human Family under God." It has engaged in internal activities such as the Family Movement and Peace Movement, promoting family harmony as the smallest unit of peace, starting with peace in the home. This year marks the 60th wedding anniversary of Sun Myung Moon and Hak Ja Han, and from February 2 to 7, a major event will be held with the participation of heads of state from over 10 countries and more than 6,000 leaders from 150 countries.
More than 30 diverse events will take place, including the World Peace Summit, the World Peace Parliamentarians Federation General Assembly, the World Peace Religious Leaders Federation General Assembly, the World Journalists Awards, the World Peace Academic Conference, and the World Peace Journalists Conference. These will be held at Kintex in Ilsan and the Cheongshim Peace World Center in Gapyeong.
This event, conducted as a World Peace Conference for Coexistence, Co-prosperity, and Justice, is larger in scale and significance than ever before. The celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Sun Myung Moon’s birth and the 60th wedding anniversary will be carried out in an engaging manner over a set period.
