Jeonnam Province Launches Full-Scale Operation of 'Labor Rights Center' to Enhance Workers' Rights

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The 'Jeonnam Labor Rights Center,' responsible for protecting and promoting the rights of workers in Jeonnam Province, has officially begun operations.

According to Jeonnam Province on the 22nd, the 'Jeonnam Labor Rights Center,' located in Namak, Muan-gun, Jeonnam, is one of the campaign pledges of Governor Kim Young-rok during his 7th term. It aims to spread a culture of respect for labor human rights by protecting the rights and improving the welfare of vulnerable workers in the region.

The center provides free support for everything from establishing the basic labor policy plan of Jeonnam Province to legal education for workers, and consultations and rights remedies related to wage arrears, unfair dismissal, workplace harassment, industrial accidents, and more.

In particular, it plans to conduct surveys on vulnerable groups and implement projects to improve labor welfare, as well as support cultural life and leisure activities for vulnerable workers through club support projects.

Additionally, it will operate visiting labor human rights classes and publish counseling casebooks to improve labor rights.

The province plans to hire professionals such as certified labor attorneys at the center to provide specialized support for labor consultations and rights remedies for cases of labor rights violations such as wage arrears and unfair dismissal, and to build a website to provide various information on labor policies and labor education online.

Ahn Sang-hyun, Director of the Economic Energy Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, “Through the establishment of the Labor Rights Center, we will strive to ensure that all workers in Jeonnam receive respect for the value of labor and human dignity,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to spread a culture where labor human rights are respected.”
