Fiscal, economic, and financial attach?s are currently dispatched to 17 missions in 12 countries, carrying out cooperation tasks with host country governments in fiscal, economic, and financial sectors, monitoring major trends in the host countries, and supporting the headquarters' external affairs.
At this meeting, 14 fiscal and economic attach?s from major overseas missions including the United States and China attended and reported on key political and economic issues in their host countries as well as trends in international organizations such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the United Nations.
Additionally, headquarters policy officials explained domestic economic issues, facilitating an exchange of opinions between the headquarters and the attach?s on domestic and international issues.
A Ministry of Economy and Finance official stated, "This meeting is expected to contribute to strengthening external economic policy capabilities and identifying key policy issues amid rapidly changing global economic conditions such as the Middle East situation, US-China trade conflicts, and Japan's export restrictions."
