[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will supply 150 youth job-linked housing units in Daeheung-dong, Jung-gu.

On the 22nd, the city announced that Daeheung-dong was finally selected as the project site in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'Job-Linked Support Housing' contest.

The local government contest for job-linked support housing targeted three types of job-specialized housing: ▲startup support housing linked to services and facilities for job-proximity of young entrepreneurs, ▲regional strategic industry support housing supplied to industry workers to foster local strategic industries by local governments, and ▲support housing for small and medium enterprise workers to alleviate housing cost burdens and encourage long-term employment.

As a result, Daeheung-dong was selected for the contest with a plan to build ‘Daejeon Daeheung Dream Town,’ a startup support housing project linked to the ‘Social Venture Startup Platform’ being prepared as a startup hub space at the former Chungnam Provincial Government Office.

Dream Town will be built through collaboration between the city and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation, and after construction, it will be used as a space to concentrate startup support facilities for nurturing startup companies and to resolve housing difficulties for young entrepreneurs.

In particular, the Korea Land and Housing Corporation will bear the entire project cost of 26.3 billion KRW, reducing the local government's financial burden.

Ryu Taek-yeol, head of the city's Urban Regeneration Housing Headquarters, said, “The city plans to officially proceed with the project after signing a business agreement for ‘Daejeon Dream Town’ on the 29th, involving the city, five districts, and Daejeon Urban Corporation.”
