[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Seulgi Kim] YouTuber 'Haneul' has been accused of abusing power over employees. With 890,000 subscribers and significant popularity on YouTube, the controversy over the alleged abuse is expected to escalate.
On the 17th, a review about the company HaneulHaneul Co., Ltd., operated by YouTuber Haneul, was posted on JobPlanet, a site where users can check company reviews, salaries, benefits, and interview experiences.
According to the review, "Even when they do something wrong, they don't realize it and just flatter their way out, and the company forgives everything." It added, "The CEO only comes to work when filming YouTube videos. Everything is at the CEO's discretion. Yesterday, they praised you for doing well, but today they get angry asking why you did it that way."
It continued, "Calling at dawn is standard, and if the CEO goes abroad for a trip, employees have to adjust to the time difference. They call on weekends, nights, and early mornings." The review stated, "The CEO thinks employees should adjust to them anytime, whether it's dawn or weekend, as long as they get paid. They see themselves as the only princess, and employees as their shuttle."
Furthermore, "Disrespecting employees is basic. The reason there are no bad reviews on JobPlanet is not because the CEO is liked, but because there are so few employees that they are afraid of being criticized if caught," the review criticized.
On December 26th, the author of another post said, "They treat employees like their own slaves," and "To intimidate a newly hired employee, they suddenly hit their head with a pen in the meeting room." This post has since been deleted.

In response to the controversy, YouTuber Haneul clarified in the comments section of their YouTube channel.
When netizen A asked, "Haneul, is the JobPlanet review real? Based on your past behavior, you don't seem like that kind of person at all," Haneul replied, "I have never acted like that."
Netizen B criticized, "I saw the reviews. A 91% turnover rate? It's obvious without even looking. They act like a CEO after watching dramas."
Haneul responded, "The high turnover rate in the second half of the year was due to the start of cosmetics manufacturing and sales, which caused existing logistics employees to leave during the transition."
