[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Bio Center of Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency is joining hands with the Natural Resources Research Center of Jeonnam Biological Industry Promotion Agency to develop natural medicine and health functional foods using native regional plants.
The Bio Center of Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency announced on the 22nd that it signed a "Business Cooperation Agreement for Product Development Using Regional Natural Resources and Regional Industry Development" with the Research Center at the meeting room of the Natural Resources Research Center of Jeonnam Biological Industry Promotion Agency on the 21st.
According to the agreement, the two institutions will work together to create high added value and promote regional industry development by developing natural medicine and health functional foods using natural resources.
Regarding detailed cooperation projects, the two institutions will exchange research equipment and information necessary for research in the industrialization of functional specialty resources and support each other's research activities. They also agreed to actively share all related equipment, space, and information to promote equipment and information exchange.
The Research Center has established a database (DB) of over 350 species of natural resources in the Jeonnam region and completed the functional identification of about 60 species, which is expected to become a great asset for joint research between the two institutions in the future.
Kim Pan-su, head of the Bio Center at Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency, emphasized, "We expect to create great synergy by actively utilizing the infrastructure and know-how of the two institutions," adding, "We will do our best to contribute to the development of Korea's bio industry by sharing each other's expertise and core competencies."
