All 3 Domestic 'Wuhan Pneumonia' Symptom Cases Test Negative... Isolation Lifted

Officials from the Facilities and Environment Team of Incheon International Airport Corporation are conducting disinfection work at the arrival hall of Incheon International Airport on the 21st to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, known as "Wuhan pneumonia." Following confirmed cases in the country, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention raised the infectious disease alert level from "Interest" to "Caution" and activated the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and local government task forces to strengthen community surveillance and response.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) announced on the 21st that all three patients previously classified as suspected cases of 'Wuhan pneumonia' tested negative for the novel coronavirus. Accordingly, the quarantine measures for these individuals have been lifted.

The three suspected patients tested negative in the 'pan-coronavirus' test conducted by the KCDC on the same day. The pan-coronavirus test is an examination that can determine whether a person is infected with the novel coronavirus, the cause of Wuhan pneumonia.

Among the three suspected patients under investigation, one was confirmed to have influenza, one was diagnosed with respiratory syncytial virus, and the remaining one tested negative for all eight types of acute respiratory viruses.

Meanwhile, one confirmed patient who was identified the previous day is currently receiving isolated treatment in a nationally designated inpatient treatment facility. Thirty-five contacts of the confirmed patient residing in the country are under active monitoring for fever and other symptoms through the respective public health centers. Additionally, 14 individuals have been classified as active monitoring targets outside of the contacts.
