Shin Jeong-hoon: "I Will Make Bitgaram Innovation City and Nampyeong Places Where People Want to Live"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Shin Jeong-hoon, the Democratic Party of Korea preliminary candidate for the National Assembly in Naju-Hwasun, Jeonnam, visited the Nampyeong 5-day Market on the 21st and announced his pledge for the development of Nampyeong during his livelihood tour ‘Shin Dabjeonbo’.

On this day, Candidate Shin said, “To promote coexistence and cooperation between the Nampyeong Riverside City and the existing old downtown area of Nampyeong-eup, I will relocate and install the overweight inspection station in front of the Riverside City, and open a pedestrian road on Nampyeong Bridge.” He also promised, “I will expand the road from the Riverside City and Nampyeong-eup Office to the intersection in front of Nampyeong Elementary School, and build the Nampyeong Welfare and Culture Center to connect the local communities of the old downtown and Riverside City.”

He also emphasized, “I will steadily promote the Moonam Rock tourist site development project, which President Moon Jae-in promised last July.”

He said, “Nampyeong has long been a region rich in beautiful natural environment and historical cultural resources. Especially, leveraging its adjacency to Gwangju and the Innovation City, I will make it a place where people want to live, visit, and stay.” He added, “To this end, I will maximize support from the central government and cooperate closely with Naju City.”

Meanwhile, since the population of Nampyeong-eup fell below 10,000 in 1998, the population has increased to 12,231 as of the end of last year, following the construction of Riverside City apartments in February 2017.
