[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) Gireum 2-dong held a "Sharing Love Rice Cake Soup" event for 100 elderly living alone and vulnerable elderly on the occasion of the 2020 Lunar New Year on the 17th at Guwon Gamgyeok Church.
The event was hosted by the Gireum 2-dong Functional Organizations Association and Guwon Gamgyeok Church, supported by Seongbuk Jeil Saemaeul Geumgo, and with the help of about 30 volunteers, served rice cake soup filled with New Year's blessings so that elderly living alone could spend a rich and warm holiday welcoming the 2020 New Year.
The Gireum 2-dong Functional Organizations Association, which organized the event, not only served meals but also provided cooking oil gifts so that the upcoming Lunar New Year could be welcomed with a more joyful heart.
Kwon Oh-bok, chairman of the Gireum 2-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee, said, "I am grateful to have the opportunity to help with a small sincerity by residents voluntarily joining forces," and expressed thanks to all participants of the event.
Lee Seung-ro, mayor of Seongbuk-gu who attended the event, said, "Helping neighbors who are marginalized around us is the true meaning of the holiday, and I hope you enjoy the carefully prepared rice cake soup and have a prosperous Lunar New Year."
