[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 21st that the Smart City Integrated Operation Center received a letter of appreciation from the Jeollanam-do Provincial Police Agency Commissioner for contributing to the arrest of a vehicle thief through meticulous monitoring work.


On the 20th at around 3 a.m., the center’s monitoring staff tracked a theft suspect who was wandering suspiciously around a parked vehicle in Daehodong for over an hour. They finally caught the theft in the act and reported it to the police stationed at the center.


Through real-time cooperation with the monitoring staff, the police immediately dispatched to the crime scene and arrested the thief on site, preventing property damage to citizens.


Kim Nam-hyun, Commissioner of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Police Agency, said, “I appreciate the efforts of the Integrated Operation Center staff who played a decisive role in catching the thief through meticulous monitoring day and night.”


The Smart City Integrated Operation Center maintains a 24-hour response system with CCTV monitoring staff and police for various incidents and accidents, playing a vital role as local guardians for citizen safety, including ▲safe return of citizens ▲detection of illegal garbage dumping ▲fire monitoring ▲monitoring of crime-prone areas ▲prevention of juvenile crime ▲response to missing dementia patients ▲traffic information guidance.


Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “I thank the monitoring staff who serve as 24-hour guardians for the safety and convenience of citizens and for their meticulous work,” adding, “I hope they continue to do their best in creating a smart city that citizens can truly feel.”
