[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 21st that it will open a public contest for subsidy recipients who support education to improve the employment capabilities of local construction workers until the 5th of next month.
The target applicants are nonprofit corporations or nonprofit private organizations currently located in Gwangju City that have experience in related projects for more than one year recently and whose main business is related to education for improving the employment capabilities of construction workers.
Organizations wishing to apply must submit documents such as the subsidy application form and project plan to the Construction Administration Division of Gwangju City by the 5th of next month. For more details, please refer to the city website under the City News (Notices) section.
Gwangju City plans to announce the final selection results of the project recipients after a comprehensive review of the organizations' eligibility, project plans, and ripple effects, followed by deliberation by the Local Subsidy Review Committee.
Since 2012, Gwangju City has annually trained 300 to 400 construction workers and prospective workers in the region to become skilled craftsmen in construction-related fields such as architectural framework and carpentry, and has fostered highly skilled personnel through construction site certification training.
Through support for education to improve the employment capabilities of local construction workers, the city plans to contribute not only to the enhancement of workers' skills but also to the expansion of employment opportunities and income increase, leading to strengthening the competitiveness of the local construction industry.
Lee Hanguk, head of the Construction Administration Division, said, “We hope that not only those currently working at construction sites but also anyone seeking new jobs will receive education and improve their personal abilities, leading to employment. We ask for active participation from organizations interested in the education support project for improving the employment capabilities of construction workers.”
