- Chong Kun Dang Opens the 6th Chong Kun Dang Arts Ground Exhibition and Showcases Works by 2017 Selected Artists
Jongkundang Holdings (CEO Choi Jang-won) is drawing attention for its efforts to support emerging artists and lead the development of contemporary art.
Jongkundang Holdings (CEO Choi Jang-won) held the "6th Jongkundang Art Ground Exhibition" at the first-floor gallery of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul.
Following the will of Chairman Lee Jang-han, who focused on finding ways to contribute to the development of Korean contemporary art, Jongkundang Holdings signed the "Art & Business (A&B)" agreement with the Korea Mecenat Association. Since 2012, it has been operating the "Jongkundang Art Ground," which selects and supports three emerging artists annually. So far, 24 emerging artists have been selected and supported. Each selected artist receives an annual creative grant of 10 million KRW for three years, and in the final year of support, they are given the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition.
This exhibition showcased about 60 works created over three years by the three artists selected for "Jongkundang Art Ground 2017": Yoo Chang-chang, Jeon Hyun-seon, and Choi Seon. These three artists were chosen for their artistic capabilities, originality, and potential for growth. Since their selection, they have actively developed their work based on various support provided by Jongkundang.
Artist Yoo Chang-chang has presented a unique artistic world that freely crosses the boundaries between comics and painting through numerous solo exhibitions such as "Cannes Parade" and "Artist's Bookshelf" at Goyang Aram Art Museum. Artist Jeon Hyun-seon has attracted attention with a distinctive approach that conveys messages by incorporating geometric shapes and everyday objects into a single work. Artist Choi Hyun-seon has recently been recognized for her artistic world and invited to major curated exhibitions.
Kim No-am, CEO of Art Space Hue, who planned this exhibition, stated, "The three artists selected for Jongkundang Art Ground are rapidly expanding their artistic depth and scope while focusing solely on their creative activities. Through the works presented in this exhibition, visitors will be able to glimpse the artists' philosophies and the future of Korean contemporary art."
