[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] #Kim Junhyung (34, pseudonym), who is getting married next month, recently spent busy days preparing the interior of his newly purchased home. Considering his available funds and bank loan limits, he had no choice but to buy an old apartment over 25 years old, but with the help of an interior platform company, he was able to proceed with the home renovation smoothly, which relieved his mind. After filling out a simple application form and submitting it, he received phone calls from several interior companies the next day and was able to have detailed consultations. He received portfolios and estimates from multiple companies, compared and analyzed them, and it took about two weeks from the final decision to the actual construction. Above all, Kim was highly satisfied because he selected a company that suited his preferences through meticulous comparison.
For demand groups struggling to afford expensive new home prices, 'home renovation' has now become a common trend. The emergence of online platforms like 'Jipdak' makes interior construction easier and stimulates the public's desire for home repair and decoration. Large companies such as Hanssem and Hyundai Livart, which have focused on furniture and building materials production and sales, are realistically increasing investments in related businesses, evaluating the growth potential of the interior market positively.
Jipdak, a leading O2O (online-to-offline) service provider in this field, surpassed a cumulative transaction amount of 300 billion KRW this month, just four and a half years after its establishment. According to Jipdak on the 21st, the cumulative transaction amount this month reached 305 billion KRW, and the highest monthly transaction amount recorded was 15 billion KRW. Since opening in July 2015, Jipdak announced that it has achieved a cumulative estimate of 190,000 cases. The partner companies collaborating with Jipdak number about 700 nationwide.
Park Sungmin, CEO of Jipdak, attributes the company's rapid growth and competitiveness to its core service called the '5 Safety Packages.' The Safety Packages consist of five elements: one-on-one dedicated estimate consultation, on-site management by Jipdak personnel, escrow deposit system, quality rework guarantee, and three years of after-sales service.
Jipdak's competitiveness was recently recognized by the government as well. Jipdak officially obtained the 'Inno-Biz' certification, a technology innovation small and medium enterprise certification system overseen by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, becoming the first in the industry to do so. Inno-Biz is a national certification system awarded to innovative SMEs with technological competitiveness, future growth potential, and employment creation capabilities. CEO Park explained, "Through the Inno-Biz certification, we have been verified as a company achieving continuous growth and officially recognized as a company that has achieved various technological innovations, including information technology (IT), and possesses future growth potential." He added, "The Inno-Biz certification is the result of steadily strengthening technological competitiveness and internal capabilities with the goal of improving services reflecting customer needs since the launch of Jipdak's service."
As large corporations also accelerate their entry into the interior platform service market, the market size is expected to continue growing. Hyundai Livart's Livart Kitchen has formed a business partnership with Jipdak and has been jointly conducting various kitchen interior events. Hanssem recently acquired the O2O platform 'Instereor' and has entered the competition with Jipdak.
