Samsung Electronics Promotes 162 Executives... Strengthening 'CEO Candidate Pool'

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Samsung Electronics announced on the 21st that it has promoted a total of 162 executives, including 14 Vice Presidents, in the 2020 regular executive personnel reshuffle.


Samsung Electronics stated that through this executive reshuffle, it promoted 14 Vice Presidents, 42 Senior Directors, 88 Directors, 3 Fellows, and 15 Masters, totaling 162 promotions.


The newly promoted Vice Presidents include Choi Yong-hoon, Head of LED Development Group at the Visual Display Business Division; Choi Won-jun, Head of Strategic Product Development Team 1 at the Wireless Business Division; Kim Woo-jun, Head of Americas BM Group at the Network Business Division; Kim Jin-hae, Head of Korea IM Sales Team; Song Jae-hyuk, Head of Flash PA Team at the Memory Business Division; Choi Jin-hyuk, Head of Design Platform Development Office at the Memory Business Division; Shim Sang-pil, Head of Foundry Manufacturing Technology Center at Giheung, Hwaseong, and Pyeongtaek complexes; Jung Ki-tae, Head of PA2 Team at the Foundry Business Division; Shin Yoo-gyun, Head of Flash TD Team at the Semiconductor Research Institute; and Vice President Yang Jang-gyu, Head of the Production Technology Research Institute.


Samsung Electronics explained, "We have promoted young leaders who possess both management performance and growth potential to Vice Presidents, thereby strengthening the pool of future CEO candidates."


In accordance with the principle of meritocracy, Samsung boldly expanded selections for talented individuals with performance and capabilities regardless of age or years of service, and maintained a policy of broadening promotion opportunities for foreigners and female personnel to enhance diversity.


As top experts in the research and development sector representing the company's technological capabilities, Samsung appointed 3 Fellows and 15 Masters to reinforce its status as a leading technology company. Samsung Electronics concluded its executive personnel reshuffle for 2020 and announced that it will soon finalize organizational restructuring and position appointments.
