Samsung Electronics Presents New Kitchen Experience at 'KBIS 2020'

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Samsung Electronics and Dacor announced that from the 21st to the 23rd (local time), they will showcase various innovative home appliances reflecting the lifestyle and preferences of the millennial generation at the 'Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) 2020' held in Las Vegas, USA.

KBIS is the largest kitchen and bath-related exhibition in North America, with over 600 companies participating worldwide. Samsung Electronics, together with Dacor, will participate with an exhibition space of 420 pyeong (approximately 1,386 square meters).

At this exhibition, Samsung Electronics will expand the application of Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and present various kitchen appliance packages that reflect lifestyle trends.

Samsung Electronics will especially showcase a large lineup of the ‘Family Hub’ refrigerators, which have won the ‘CES Innovation Award’ for five consecutive years, and set up a ‘Connected Living Zone’ to promote the popularization of AI and IoT kitchen appliances to visitors.

Visitors can experience differentiated AI and IoT services in this space through the evolved Family Hub refrigerator with ‘Food AI,’ including ▲receiving customized diet and recipe recommendations, ▲automatic recognition and management of internal ingredients, ▲listening to music or watching videos on the refrigerator, and ▲controlling other appliances.

Samsung Electronics will also unveil new products such as the ‘Slide-in’ range and a built-in look French door refrigerator at this exhibition. The Slide-in range features a design differentiation with an appearance like built-in appliances and a simple control panel. It offers a ‘Dual Power Burner’ that delivers industry-leading power (23K BTU).

The new products are equipped with smart functions to upgrade consumers’ kitchen experiences. Consumers can search for recipes and directly set the desired cooking mode on the range through the SmartThings app. Additionally, features such as cooking mode suggestions tailored to consumer preferences and easy operation via voice commands minimize the complexity of the cooking process.

The new built-in look French door refrigerator features doors with a ‘flat design’ and simple handle design, creating a modern and clean kitchen like built-in furniture. This product applies Samsung’s proprietary ‘SpaceMax™’ technology, significantly increasing food storage space while maintaining a slim exterior size and energy efficiency.

Besides kitchen appliances, Samsung Electronics will also exhibit various innovative home appliances such as the wireless vacuum cleaner ‘Jet,’ air purifier ‘Wind-Free Cube,’ clothing care appliance ‘AirDresser,’ and new washing machines and dryers for the U.S. market, proposing a new lifestyle to North American consumers. Furthermore, it offers kitchen appliance packages optimized for various lifestyles, including the modern and luxurious design of ‘Black Stainless Steel’ and the warm brown tones characteristic of ‘Tuscan Stainless Steel.’

Meanwhile, Dacor will present three themed spaces reflecting modern urban living using three different kitchen appliance packages: the Urban Life Zone, the Countryside Zone with a traditional feel, and the Coastal Zone with a beach residence concept.

Choi Ik-su, Executive Director of Samsung Electronics’ Home Appliance Business Division, said, "Samsung Electronics has reflected the diversifying lifestyles of consumers, especially millennials, by expanding AI and IoT technologies along with innovative technology and differentiated design. Through these efforts, we will further strengthen our leadership in the global home appliance market."
