[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Toyota Korea held the official launch event for the sports car 'Toyota GR Supra' on the 21st and has begun full-scale sales.
The GR Supra is a Toyota authentic sports car developed with the concept of 'Supreme Fun-To-Drive,' offering the ultimate driving pleasure. 'GR' stands for Toyota's motorsport division, Toyota Gazoo Racing (GAZOO Racing).
The 3.0ℓ inline 6-cylinder engine with a maximum torque of 51 kg·m and a maximum output of 340 horsepower delivers powerful force and acceleration performance suitable for sports driving. It optimally combines three elements?wheelbase, tread, and center of gravity height?to provide excellent handling and stable cornering as a sports car. Additionally, the Active Sound Control offers intense engine sounds according to the driving mode, enhancing the driving enjoyment.
The exterior design inherits the silhouette of Toyota's classic sports car 2000GT, developed with the 'Long Nose Short Deck' concept featuring a long front and short rear. The double-bubble roof naturally guides external airflow and secures headroom for occupants, while the rear design generates downforce at high speeds, and the voluminous front and rear fenders visually confirm the Supra's athletic performance.
Moreover, the sports car details are expressed throughout the vehicle with six LED headlamps, 100mm diameter dual mufflers, 19-inch forged alloy wheels, and the GR emblem on the rear.
The horizontally elongated instrument panel design secures a wide forward view, and paddle shifters and essential driving buttons are placed close to the driver to minimize eye movement. The interior design, including high back sports seats that reduce body sway, knee pads on the console, and a steering wheel that delivers intuitive control, is designed to help the driver focus on driving.
The 1.8-inch full-color head-up display allows easy confirmation of various information while driving, and various preventive safety technologies such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and adaptive high beam system are applied to assist safe driving. The price of the GR Supra is 73.8 million KRW (including VAT), and more detailed information can be found at Toyota official dealers nationwide.
At the event, Nobuyuki Takemura, President of Toyota Korea, said, "We hope you experience the fun of sports driving with the GR Supra, which allows you to feel the true joy of driving."
