"Raccoon Nicknamed RtA, Now a Real Product"…Nongshim Launches 'Angry RtA'

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Nongshim announced on the 21st that it will launch a limited edition new product of the Neoguri brand called ‘Angry RtA.’ This is the actual product version of RtA, which has become a hot topic online.

RtA is a nickname coined by foreigners who enjoy eating Neoguri but cannot read Hangul. The nickname comes from the fact that when the Neoguri packaging is turned upside down, it resembles the letters R, t, and A. Recently, many netizens have been playfully calling Neoguri “RtA ramyeon.” A Nongshim official explained, “In fact, on a foreign online shopping site, Nongshim Neoguri is widely known to the extent that it is labeled as ‘RTA Neoguri’ in parallel.”

Inspired by this phenomenon, Nongshim created RtA as an actual product. Angry RtA, with the Neoguri packaging flipped upside down, also has a surprising twist in flavor. The noodles are thicker, and the broth preserves a deep and rich seafood taste while being about three times spicier than the original Neoguri.

In particular, the chili content has been increased and pepper added to create a fiery and tingling spiciness. The amount of seafood ingredients such as mussels, squid, and seaweed has been increased to enhance the unique seafood flavor even more.

A Nongshim official said, “Noting the recent trend of extremely spicy products in the food industry, we decided to make the concept of Angry RtA spicy. While most existing spicy ramyeon are meat-based, Angry RtA is seafood-based, offering a cooler and more distinctive spicy flavor, which is its differentiating point.”

The garnish soup includes kelp, a symbol of Neoguri, and fish cakes shaped like a cute raccoon character, adding to the fun of eating.

Nongshim Angry RtA is available in two types: bag and large bowl, so consumers can enjoy according to their preference. The bag product weighs 121g and retails for 1,000 won, while the large bowl is 114g and priced at 1,600 won.
