[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Hanglas stated on the 21st that "2020 is a year marking a turning point in history," and plans to launch double low-e products, new products that enhance processing convenience, and differentiated high-performance new products this year.

Hanglas made this announcement at the 2020 New Year's greeting ceremony for dealership presidents held on the 17th at the Diamond Hall of the Plaza Hotel in Seoul. The event was attended by about 120 people, including Hanglas President Lee Yongseong, Hanglas executives and employees, and dealership presidents.

In his New Year's address, President Lee Yongseong said, "For Hanglas, 2020 is a year marking a turning point in history. It is the end of the era of Korea Glass, which belonged to Saint-Gobain for over 20 years, and the starting point of a new history of Korea Glass, a year that will transition to new growth." He added, "Although this year will be challenging due to the ongoing economic downturn, just like last year, Hanglas will seek ways for continuous growth."

Executive Director Lee Donggeun, who presented the outlook for this year's flat glass market, said, "As insulation regulations continue to strengthen, from this year onward, glass specifications will become more premium and the application of high-performance double low-e glass will expand, so the overall market value will increase." He also noted, "The market slump will continue this year as well, mainly in the residential market, following last year."

Senior Executive Director Woo Sangsil introduced sales activities in the public sector market according to strengthened building regulations and new products, stating, "In line with the government's trend to apply and spread zero-energy buildings, Hanglas is actively conducting technical support activities targeting public offices." He added, "Through glass technology seminars and guidance on glass specifications applied in window performance reports, we have increased understanding of glass and, through changes in perception, have led to a sharp increase in sales of coated glass and insulating spacers." He continued, "This year, high-transmittance double low-e products, new products that enhance processing convenience, and differentiated high-performance new products are scheduled to be launched."
