[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Additional allegations have surfaced claiming that singer Kim Gunmo (52), who is accused of sexual assault, sexually harassed a woman, sparking controversy. A close associate of Kim Gunmo has denied the claims, stating they are not true.
On the 19th, female singer A revealed on her Twitter that Kim Gunmo sexually harassed her in the past.
A stated, "Kim Gunmo told me to wear a Batman T-shirt at a drinking party and made high-level jokes such as 'Can't friends even kiss?' and 'It feels like dealing with a community center employee who can't kiss in front of others.'"
She revealed the Batman T-shirt she received from Kim Gunmo, saying, "I tried to throw it away several times, but kept it just in case," and added, "After reading the police investigation article, I rummaged through my clothes box and took it out. In the end, I couldn't throw it away."
She continued, "I want to support in any way I can, but I have no evidence. I have thought over a hundred times whether I should carry a recorder with me 24 hours a day. But is that really living?" and appealed, "What I hope for is that at least the people around me do not consume this, and that those who are punished are definitely punished."
Afterwards, A set her SNS account to private. She said, "I changed my Twitter account to private to stop further retweets," and added, "This morning, I met with my longtime attending physician. I judged that my own stability is the most important."
She continued, "I read the police investigation article about Mr. Kim, and wrote this because it reminded me of what I experienced and what I have," emphasizing, "I want to make it clear that this is not because of performances or releases. His music is playing in too many places, and it was painful to endure and head to my destination whether I took a taxi or a bus. Please stop the secondary harm."
However, music director B, who was present at the drinking party, denied A's claims.
In an interview with a media outlet, B said, "(I) saw the post A wrote on SNS. It is not true. I feel sorry for why she wrote such a post. Many parts are completely untrue," and added, "Kim Gunmo introduced A as a cherished junior, and I heard that A met Kim Gunmo separately later and rode bicycles together."
Along with this, B also released photos taken with Kim Gunmo and A, stating, "We drank happily and parted ways. That's all," denying the allegations.
Regarding the claim that Kim Gunmo forced A to wear a Batman T-shirt and sexually harassed her, B said, "It meant to change into comfortable clothes because it was uncomfortable at home."
B said, "I was also surprised after reading the post. It was unfortunate and absurd," and expressed, "After the revelation, she promoted her own album, but I cannot understand this situation."
Kim Gunmo's agency, Geoneum Planning, stated, "We will not make a statement as it may harm a cherished junior."
Kim Gunmo is accused of sexually assaulting woman C, who worked as an employee at a nightclub in Gangnam, Seoul, in 2016. Kim Gunmo has denied all allegations and filed a countersuit against C.
Kim Gunmo appeared at the police station on the 15th for questioning. After the investigation, he said, "I answered sincerely to the police. I hope the results and the truth will be revealed soon." It is reported that Kim Gunmo denied all charges during the police investigation.
