Seongbuk-gu, 2020 'Apartment Support Project' Contest Announcement

Applications open for 5 weeks until Feb 21 in community activation, senior security, and management support... Expanded participation opportunities through reduced self-payment rates for small-scale communal housing and rental apartments

Seongbuk-gu, 2020 'Apartment Support Project' Contest Announcement

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) announced that it is accepting applications for the multi-family housing support project until February 21 to establish a culture of open apartments that communicate.

This multi-family housing support project targets multi-family housing complexes with 30 or more households in Seongbuk-gu and is conducted in the following areas: ▲community revitalization (resident communication, hobby and health classes, etc.) ▲senior security guards (patrol activities within the complex, etc.) ▲management support (maintenance of common facilities, etc.). Interested complexes must submit an application form to Seongbuk-gu Office (Housing Policy Division) after approval by the residents' representative meeting.

Selection will be announced in March after document review, on-site investigation, and deliberation by the Seongbuk-gu Multi-family Housing Review Committee. Selected complexes will receive up to 8 million KRW for community revitalization projects, up to 2 million KRW for senior security guard projects, and up to 15 million KRW for management support projects.

Since 2012, Seongbuk-gu has been promoting the multi-family housing support project. Last year, it supported a total of 97 complexes with 250 million KRW for community revitalization and senior security guard projects, and 30 complexes with 300 million KRW for management support projects.

In particular, the district expanded opportunities for various communities to participate in the projects. It broadened participation opportunities in the community revitalization field to include small-scale multi-family housing and rental apartments. If there is no entity to carry out the project, it allows participation through alliances with welfare organizations.

Additionally, in the management support project field, considering the low participation rate due to the burden of self-payment rates in small-scale multi-family housing or rental apartments, the self-payment rate for management support projects was eased from 50% to 40%. Also, while approval from the residents' representative meeting is mandatory for application, if such a meeting is not organized, applications can be made with the consent of at least four-fifths of the residents, thereby expanding participation opportunities for small-scale multi-family housing and rental apartments.

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, “As the proportion of multi-family housing increases, a residential culture where neighbors share affection and care for each other is becoming increasingly necessary. Accordingly, the district actively supports the multi-family housing support project every year to establish a culture of open apartments that coexist and communicate, and residents' interest and participation are also increasing. We will strive to make this year’s multi-family housing support project an opportunity to open hearts to neighbors and add happiness.”
