[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] CEO Seungwon Han of HJ Culture received the Grand Prize from the Korea Performing Arts Tourism Association.
He was recognized for his efforts to expand the base of foreign audiences in the domestic performing arts scene through the musical 'Sejong 1446.'
'Sejong 1446' is a historical musical depicting the life of King Sejong the Great, gaining attention for its grand-scale stage, splendid royal costumes, and music that highlights the harmony of traditional Korean instruments and string instruments. The introduction of a foreign language subtitle system also made it highly popular among overseas audiences.
In addition to 'Sejong 1446,' CEO Seungwon Han has produced numerous original musicals such as 'Vincent van Gogh,' 'Salieri,' 'Farinelli,' 'Rachmaninoff,' and 'Paganini.' Recently, he established HJ Kids and consecutively staged family musicals like 'Janghwa Shinneun Goyangi Begins' and 'BabyBus.'
CEO Seungwon Han stated, "I am pleased to contribute to performing arts tourism through performances based on our proud history of King Sejong. This year, we plan to promote domestic performing arts widely to more foreign audiences not only through domestic tours but also overseas tours."
The Korea Performing Arts Tourism Association is a public interest corporation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, promoting various performing arts projects to contribute to the activation and development of performing arts tourism for domestic and international tourists.
