[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Regarding the voices of insubordination within the prosecution against Shim Jae-cheol, head of the Anti-Corruption and Strong Crime Division at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, who claimed the innocence of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae said, "He made inappropriate remarks that even ordinary people would not make." In response, the New Conservative Party criticized, saying, "Minister Choo Mi-ae herself is the person who made remarks that even ordinary people would not make."
Lee Jong-cheol, spokesperson for the New Conservative Party, stated in a commentary on the 20th, "The persons who made remarks that even ordinary people would not make are Minister Choo Mi-ae and President Moon Jae-in," he said.
The spokesperson pointed out, "This administration is carrying out actions that cannot be tolerated even by the common sense of ordinary people, day and night," and added, "They said they would restore public service discipline, but appointing someone who claims innocence on charges that the court also described as 'serious' as head of the Anti-Corruption Division itself shows that public service discipline has collapsed."
He questioned, "Did President Moon Jae-in, who said 'the president's personnel authority,' directly order 'Cho Kuk's innocence'?" and emphasized, "I hope the head of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office Anti-Corruption Division, as a prosecutor, will restore the conscience of prosecutors."
