[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Samsung Electronics announced its 2020 regular executive promotions on the 20th, including the promotion of 4 presidents and 5 changes in appointed duties, totaling 9 executives.


President No Tae-moon, who was the head of the Wireless Business Development Office in the IM Division, has been appointed as the head of the smartphone business (IM Division Wireless Business). President No is known as a smartphone development expert who led the development of the Galaxy series and created the Galaxy legend. He served as the head of the Wireless Business Development Office and contributed to strengthening the global competitiveness of the mobile business based on his technical leadership.


Vice Chairman Kim Ki-nam, who oversees the semiconductor business as the head of the DS (Device Solutions) Division, President Kim Hyun-seok, head of the CE (Consumer Electronics) Division, and President Ko Dong-jin, head of the IM Division for IT and mobile sectors, have all retained their positions.


The IM Division consists of the Wireless Business, responsible for smartphones and PC businesses, and the Network Business, responsible for telecommunications equipment. Until now, President Ko has concurrently served as the representative of the IM Division and head of the Wireless Business.


Lee In-yong, who served as the head of the Communication Team, has moved to the position of President in charge of External Affairs (CR·Corporate Relations) as an advisor overseeing social contribution activities.


Four vice presidents have been promoted to president. Jeon Kyung-hoon, vice president and head of the IM Division Network Business, was promoted to president; Hwang Sung-woo, deputy director of the Comprehensive Technology Institute, was promoted to director; and Choi Yoon-ho, vice president of the Business Support Task Force (TF), was promoted to president.


Park Hak-gyu, vice president and head of Samsung SDS Business Operations, was promoted to president and appointed as head of the Management Support Office of Samsung Electronics DS Division.
