[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Chang-woo Lee) is implementing the ‘2020 Lunar New Year Comprehensive Measures’ until the 28th to ensure that all residents can spend a warm and comfortable Lunar New Year holiday.
The district has prepared detailed measures in six areas: ▲support for marginalized neighbors ▲traffic ▲safety ▲price stabilization ▲resolution of residents’ inconveniences ▲establishment of public service discipline, and will operate a comprehensive situation room 24 hours a day from the 23rd, the day before the Lunar New Year holiday.
In particular, this year, support for marginalized neighbors will be strengthened through tailored assistance by target group.
To provide a warm holiday for basic livelihood security recipients, consolation money for the Lunar New Year will be paid to 5,530 households, an increase of about 600 households compared to last year. Five social welfare centers in the area will conduct consolation events such as briquette delivery, special holiday meals, and celebratory performances.
Welfare planners and visiting nurses in each neighborhood will visit elderly living alone, foster families for boys and girls, and welfare institutions to check on their well-being and provide holiday food, striving to minimize care gaps during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Also, to ensure smooth traffic flow, public and resident-priority parking lots and school parking lots will be opened free of charge during the measure period, and parking enforcement will be relaxed around traditional markets and religious facilities.
The district focuses on preventing safety accidents for residents. In cooperation with the Regional Building Safety Center, it will conduct intensive inspections of construction sites, roads and traffic facilities, movie theaters, traditional markets, and other multi-use facilities. Minor issues will be immediately corrected or safety measures ordered, with continuous management planned.
Furthermore, the district allows garbage disposal on the first day of the holiday, the 24th, and designates the period from the 25th to the 27th as a suspension period for garbage disposal and collection. Garbage accumulated during the holiday will be collected all at once later using all available personnel and equipment.
In addition, the district operates ▲Price Stabilization Situation Room (☎820-1368) ▲Health Center Medical Guidance Team (☎820-1616) ▲on-duty medical institutions (Chung-Ang University Hospital, Seoul Boramae Hospital, Cheonghwa Hospital, Jeongdong Hospital) and holiday duty pharmacies. The operation status of emergency medical institutions and pharmacies can be checked on the district website or by contacting the comprehensive situation room.
Kim Hyun-ho, Director of Planning and Coordination, said, “In celebration of the great national holiday, Lunar New Year, we will do our best to ensure that all residents can have a happy and safe holiday through the implementation of comprehensive measures.”
