Former Professor Jin, Lawmaker Kim's Nomination Exclusion: "Will See as a Measure of Representative Hwang's Sincerity in Innovation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Jin Joong-kwon, former professor at Dongyang University, who has been criticizing the political sphere regardless of party lines, urged Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Liberty Korea Party, to "exclude Representative Kim Sung-tae from this nomination process."
On the 18th, Jin posted on his Facebook, "Representative Kim Sung-tae says that if he is acquitted in the first trial, there will be no obstacle to his candidacy, but since when has the qualification for public office in this country been a crime?" He criticized, "The limit of the law being the limit of morality is not public office ethics but Yakuza ethics."
He added that he would watch whether Leader Hwang excludes Representative Kim from the nomination. Jin wrote, "I will regard whether Leader Hwang excludes Representative Kim Sung-tae from the nomination as a measure of the sincerity of the Liberty Korea Party's reform this time."
He also urged, "I was heavily criticized for saying that justice was established instead of the opposition party and that Leader Hwang Kyo-ahn should be thankful, but please do not just say empty words and act."
On the 17th, the 13th Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Court (Chief Judge Shin Hyuk-jae) acquitted Representative Kim Sung-tae of the Liberty Korea Party and former KT Chairman Lee Seok-chae, who were indicted on charges of bribery and bribery offering. The court acknowledged that there was preferential treatment in the regular employment of Kim's daughter but found it difficult to see that there was a request from Representative Kim or an order for illegal hiring from former Chairman Lee during the process.
In response, Jin said to Representative Kim, "Since the court recognized the illegal employment of your daughter as a fact, you should take moral responsibility and retire from politics," adding, "Being exempted from legal punishment does not mean receiving a moral pardon."
He further pointed out, "Kim's daughter took away the opportunity of someone born into a powerless family by using her father's power," and "Since there seems to be no remorse, it is fully expected that similar incidents will continue as long as Representative Kim remains in office."
