[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon claimed that "the most important point of the 2020 general election is whether Moon Hee-sang, the Speaker of the National Assembly's son, will receive party nomination."
On the 17th, Jin said on his Facebook, "To avoid the pouring criticism, the Democratic Party of Korea temporarily designated the Gyeonggi Uijeongbu-gap district as a strategic nomination area, but they will cautiously try to dismantle it little by little," adding this.
He also added, "The Democratic Party people are very skilled at deceiving voters."
He continued, "To compare it to a 100m dash, Speaker Moon's son starts at the 99m mark using his father's power when others start from the starting point," and criticized, "After running just 1m, if he gets the nomination, he will probably pant and say, 'I ran my father's path but did not use my father's power; all of this is the choice of the local residents and the result of my efforts.'"

Professor Jin claimed, "His nomination will be a signal that South Korea is regressing from a modern civil society to a feudal hereditary society."
Earlier, it was confirmed that Moon Seok-gyun, the son of Speaker Moon and the standing vice chairman of Uijeongbu City Gap, registered as a preliminary candidate for the Democratic Party in Uijeongbu-gap on the 16th. This district is where Speaker Moon served six terms.
Meanwhile, on the 17th, the Democratic Party held a supreme council meeting and confirmed 15 areas, including Uijeongbu-gap, as strategic nomination districts. Strategic nomination means the party leadership selects candidates without a primary election.
