[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] On the 17th (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who harshly criticized the United States, to "watch his words."

President Trump said on Twitter that day, "The so-called 'Supreme Leader' of Iran, who is not very great recently, made some nasty remarks about the United States and Europe," adding, "He should be very careful with his words."

This was Trump's response to Ayatollah Khamenei's criticism of the U.S. airstrike that killed Qasem Soleimani, a key figure in the Iranian military.

Earlier, Ayatollah Khamenei led the Friday prayer service in the capital Tehran and criticized, saying, "The assassination of Soleimani is a disgrace to the United States," and "The American 'clowns' pretend to support the Iranian people but will betray them." The term "clowns" is interpreted as referring to President Trump.
